ABOUT THIS HOUSE:
– Location : 41800 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265
– Price : $68,800,000 (June 2023)
– Specs : 5 Beds + 7 Baths + 9,206 SF living + 0.83 Acre lot + 2 Parking spaces
– Property Description : A multi-generational compound with a global architectural pedigree is not often offered on the open market. This iconic Edward R. Niles-designed modern masterpiece (GA Houses Project 2005 “Chen Residences) is one of the most spectacular homes of glass and steel along the Southern California coastline. Striking interiors rival that of world-class contemporary art museums. Think Guggenheim in New York and Bilbao, Spain, and The Broad in Los Angeles. Niles’ signature architecture is appreciated for its dramatic futuristic design while showcasing the splendor of its natural surroundings. Connect with nature living on approximately 75′ of a pristine fine sand beach with a captivating tide pool (Harrison Reef). Drawing inspiration from the shoji concept of translucency (a traditional style of Japanese architecture), the expansive 4bd/5.5ba main house with detached 1bd/1ba guest house lives large at 8,206 square feet. Niles’ design of glass, steel, and concrete created a modern, yet timeless art piece most appreciated by the collector of unique properties. The home’s design incorporates the lucky number “8” which is thoughtful yet strategic. Eight separate structures were created as one with art and furnishings showcasing the number “8.” Feng Shui-inspired design ensures a significant balance between the home and its natural surroundings of ocean and sky. An exposed architectural concrete wall adds to the distinctive design. Privacy and security are assured as the home is well-gated with a 2-car garage and ample guest parking. A fully remote-monitored security system is convenient and appreciated. Engineered and constructed to sustain the forces of nature from a tsunami to an Earthquake. For added self-sufficiency, there is an on-site generator. The .83-acre property rests on one of Malibu’s quietest and most pristine beaches. The one-of-a-kind amenities include a state-of-the-art music room, a soundproof home theater (for 19) with hardwire built-in streaming connection. There is a built-in audio system throughout. Interior features to be appreciated include an exposed architectural concrete wall, and Gascoigne Blue natural limestone flooring in bathrooms, and on the patio. Bulthaup design cabinets in the kitchen and throughout the home offer simplicity and function while incorporating a purist design. Dornbracht luxury stainless faucets in the kitchen and baths are “timeless and iconic.” In addition, there are nine Sub-Zero refrigerators throughout. A hydraulic (nearly silent) elevator accesses all four en-suite ocean-view bedrooms and living spaces. Abundant open space around the property can host over 100 guests. An outdoor fire conversation pit, and a stainless-steel Japanese soaking tub complete the picture. Whether it’s entertaining friends and family or escaping daily life one can fly private directly into the Camarillo airport and be on the sand in 20-25 minutes. A truly unique architectural masterpiece for those who appreciate the privilege of ownership.
